O Tears for Fears possui uma boa quantidade de músicas legais. Mas em Mad World (música do primeiro album: The Hurting), o duo britânico traz uma beleza sombria e melancólica traduzida nos seus sintetizadores pulsantes, que ajudam a criar uma canção diferenciada e difícil de ser esquecida.
Há uma versão acústica no filme Donnie Darko (ótimo, por sinal) que casou perfeitamente com a obra - que aliás não deixa de homenagear o Tears for Fears em sua trilha sonora.
